We drove down to the Lower Mainland and headed out to Hope, B.C., to explore Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park, more commonly known as Othello Tunnels. There are five tunnels in total.

What a fun and adventurous way to spend an afternoon. Perfect for a small outing, a first date or with the family. Lots to see and observe. Sunshine or rain, bring an umbrella if it's raining. It would be a good idea to have a flashlight, headlamp or use the light on your phone. You can still walk through the tunnels without a light, but if you are scared of the dark or worried about your footing, it's lucky to be safe, then sorry. Also, kids love to have a flashlight or glow bracelets. You can pick these up at the dollar store.

The grounds are like in the picture above, with no need for fancy hiking shoes.

Just before the Tunnels, when you walk on the trail, you will come across an area that looks like this picture above off the track. You can jump across the little creek if you want to get a closer look at the raging waters and capture some photos of the mountains and rock beach.
Photo opp! My daughter is enjoying the raging river and rock beach.

There is a little bench on the trail to take a seat and take in all the views or sit for a minute and rest.
The bench says, "love is all you need."

Before we head into the rest of the tunnels, if you still want more adventure, just after the first set of tunnels, where this sign is describing what the tunnels are, is another place you can adventure off to its up a little hillside.

Just over the hill is a slight downhill track, where you can get closer to the river and climb on the big rocks; gorgeous greenery everywhere you look; it's so beautiful.
These are some of the pics I took down below.
OK, now we are ready to check out the tunnels and enjoy these caves and what they offer. After all, granite tunnels, when do you ever get the chance to walk through tunnels of granite this big?
Love Locks, Rushing Coquihalla River and under the bridge
Again, as I mentioned above, there is no need for headlamps; you can if you want to. It can make for an aesthetically appealing picture, or if you have your cell phone, you can use the light on that. For fun, bring glow bracelets for the kids so they will glow when they are walking through the tunnels.
This was a good time had by all, spending some time in the afternoon at the Tunnels. We were still wanting to venture off for more. There are many more things we can check out; we came from langley, so we try to get in as many adventures in one area as possible. If time permits, why not?
We headed to Flood Falls and Bridal Falls as well. It was 15 min away but worth it, just a small hike to some beautiful falls. Check out the blogs on the falls.

After our adventurous day, we went to this little cafe; they have soups, primarily desserts, specialty coffees, and teas.
We always pick a cafe or a restaurant to go to and grab something to eat afterwards on our hikes. It's a perfect end to the day.
