10 Reasons for Investing In and the Power of Having a Coach!

A great coach tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. -sagi kalev

The question now is, how do we get to a place where we can have the success we want? Well, that depends on what you are about to embark on and who will help take you there.

Imagine you’re going about the days and weeks being your own coach, and you are well on your way in the journey.  The programs you have set out to achieve are going great; you think to yourself,  "see, I got this," and with no thought at all, you are undefeated, and you're moving along like all the others around you and smiling ear to ear, having total faith and belief in yourself.

You didn't know that the others have been using mentors or coaches. No big deal, you think to yourself, you are playing well and are ahead of the game doing things your way.

Then, in the closing days, you make a bad call or something you have no control over in your life happens. Things get confusing, and everything feels like it's going against you. You lose out, miss your mark, your motivation fades, and you're starting to see that you are not reaching your desired goal. The self chatter sets in, saying that you suck and now you're DOOMED. All that work you have been putting in will go to shit.
Now, what do you do? What do you say? How are you supposed to feel?

Mentors and Coaches can be, wait, let me rephrase that, they are enormously influential and beneficial in our lives when it comes to helping us reach our goal and carry it through to the very end.

Suppose you ask a random group of adults to recall something of significance that happened in their lives when they were trying to achieve something more significant than they were. You will always hear them, in the end, thank a coach or someone who was there for them and inspired or guided them through to the very end of their goal.

The moral of the story is that we cannot do it alone. We like to think we can, but it's not the smartest thing to do. Don't let the ego tell you otherwise. That voice you sometimes hear is either ego or grace; knowing the difference is key to getting what you want in life.
Even the best of the best athletes have mentors and a coach. Everyone needs someone to turn to when we don't have all the answers or need that extra push.

There can be different names of people that help you through your journey like coaches, mentors, life coaches, healers, motivation coaches, fitness coaches, wellness coaches and doctors etc.
The bottom line is that we all need someone who is more robust, has more experience and has been through what we are about to go through. They're essential to be there to motivate, push, and keep us on track.
Basically, I am saying that having the right coach can provide the right advice and connections that help their men-tee reach heights that would be impossible alone. Don't let your ego get in the way because I will try and tell you anything different other than what you want.

I know this first hand because I wouldn't have been able to complete my goals, the goal that I wanted in the last part of my weight-loss journey of hitting the stage in my first bikini competition. The one I had set out to accomplish five years prior. It was a long road but worth it, and doing it alone wouldn't have been the smartest thing to do. Also, having a tribe is super important, a community of like-minded people around you. I had a great group of like-minded gals along with my adventures! Conclusion coaches and team players are essential—no point in trying to do it alone. Never try to do it alone.

Listed below are why I believe investing in a coach is wise.
The 10 Reasons Why!

1. Comfort Zone.

Especially for introverts or shy people

Give you the push to step outside your comfort zone

Meet new people

Try new things

2. One-On-One Personal Attention.

Coaches focus 100% on you.

They're aware of what you have done and where you are going.

Reminders and Encouragement.

3. Correction and Confront you.

Someone who is not afraid to tell you that you are doing something incorrectly.

They have a proven method to take you to the next level.

4. Reality

Coaches have one goal: to make their ideas a reality.

They can evaluate and assess what your ideas are; for example; they may do a small test to see will they be successful or not and correct it.

Uncover solutions you may have overlooked.

5. Trusted Partner

You can talk about your valid concerns.

No judgement.

They help cut out the noise in your head.

Sometimes it’s hard to know where to start and what to tackle first.

You will be held accountable for what matters.

So to conclude, experienced coaches that have gone down the same path as you want to be going, are the best leaders and mentors to choose from.  Keep your emotions out of the planning and choose rationally. Also, they fill in the gaps you're currently lacking because they've been there.
Find a mentor who has done what you want to achieve, not just one who hangs a certification on a wall or has taken a few weeks or weekend courses. Ask questions; make sure they have done the same goals you want to accomplish. The chances of them relating to your story are much more significant and will make you feel comfortable through the challenging parts of the process. Also, choose a coach who is doing it for the right reasons.
Depending on what journey you plan on going on, choose wisely. I will repeat this and can't express this enough. I have had great success mentoring and inspiring others to lose weight and get motivated to change their lives, and it's from my own experience.  But, Because I have only done one bikini competition, I wouldn't consider myself an expert in offering to help someone in such a journey. I can, however, inspire, encourage and be a great support and cheer you on. Talk about which bikinis, make-up, hair, and a few more things happen, but the meal plan and workouts are a bit more complicated and scientific. You can do more damage than good to your metabolism if you are not doing things correctly from the start and the finish, including reverse dieting etc.  So choose a coach with a good history in this area.

I can't stress enough how important it is when finding the right coach. That often, in most cases these days, especially in the bodybuilding industry, someone tries or has done a competition once and thinks themselves to be a coach and educated enough. They think they're qualified and are often just winging it with you and hoping for the best. This is a scary thought. You ideally want someone who has hours and hours under their belt.

Go with your intuition on this; ask questions, hard ones, ones that will separate them from the fakers or ego-driven individuals. You can tell if someone is doing it for the right reasons,  intentions and purposes. Are they in this type of field by default because they have connections, or are they sleeping, eating, and breathing it every day of their lives? Ask questions, ask lots. Don't be scared.

If they stumble on a few questions or blow your questions off, act like what you're saying or asking isn't essential, run and keep looking for a well-educated qualified coach. The one educated in this area can answer any questions you throw at them. This is your health and body; your future self depends on it.
My coach Dr. Kamar is below with me in the middle of a training session. He was by my side and the girls' side the whole time. Always there for us. Each of us had our meal plans based on our body types. Mentally preparing us and physically based on our individual needs. Find a coach who is sincerely there for you and not overly busy with clients you barely have access to.
I also want to mention this one last thing as well. If you feel like you can't work with the coach you have, and it's halfway through your training, you have the right to fire them and find one that suits you better. It will make or break your outcome. Stress can change your body's composition, physique and look; you can't afford to stay in a client-coach relationship if it's not right for you. Take this advice in any relationship as well. Stress will wear on you, and it will show.
Good Luck
Sincerely Kat
